Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry which includes the study and supervision of skeletal and dental growth; treatment of all kinds of malocclusions. Broadly, all the procedures are classified into preventive, interceptive and corrective orthodontics which aid in the establishment of proper occlusion, function and aesthetics.

Ever since its origin, the department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics is rising towards progress in all dimensions in a very streamlined manner.

 

The department consists best class infrastructure which is divided into following wings :-

  • Clinical section for Post-Graduate students

  • A separate section for Under-Graduate students

  • A fully equipped (air-conditioned) Seminar room with LCD projector

  • Clinical photography room

  • A clinical laboratory

  • Patient record section maintaining records of all new and old patients

  • Computer work station

  • A departmental library equipped with all kinds of books and journals

  • An efficient sterilization corner/unit for infection control

  • A store providing supply of all orthodontic materials

  • A well maintained reception area

  • A separate Post-graduate room

Today, the department is providing a quality patient care with all kinds of conventional and latest treatment modalities like myofunctional appliances, fixed orthodontics including labial and lingual appliances, use of metallic , ceramic and self-ligating brackets, temporary anchorage devices, straight wire appliance along with its modifications, orthognathic surgical cases and treating cleft cases. The department is equipped with Nemoceph software for diagnosis and treatment planning, hydrosolder, digital radiographic machine.

Our postgraduate orthodontic program has been designed as an intensive and exciting three-year journey which aims not only to develop orthodontists but to develop leaders in our field. Various teaching activities have been designed to inculcate the best within the students which comprises of seminars, journal clubs, case presentations, chairside discussions and interdisciplinary meetings.
